$1500 Scholarship Winner |
The Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs, with the help of its Fundraising Committee, is
pleased to award its 2008 top scholarship of $1500 to Ashley Zimmerman. Ashley is the daughter of
John & Lisa Zimmerman of Markesan and a member of the Markesan Sno-Drifters Snowmobile Club. She has
been a member of her school’s band and colorguard, has participated in softball along with being involved
in student government and its functions. Not only has she been an active snowmobile club member including
running for Miss Snowflake, but she is also very aware of the snowmobiling community’s importance. She has
enjoyed volunteering many hours of service within her community. Ashley will graduate from Markesan
School in June and plans to further her education at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton pursuing a
degree in Criminal Justice.

Lyla Schumann Memorial Scholarship Low Bucks Vintage Rider |
Katie Van Wyk of Sheboygan Falls is this year’s recipient of the $1000 Lyla Schumann Memorial Scholarship. The Low Bucks Vintage Rider Snowmobile Club is responsible for this award to Katie, the daughter of Dale & Sari Van Wyk. She is a member of both the Five Corners Snowmobile Club and the Tombstone Pickerel Sno-Club. Katie has been active during her high school career in Volleyball, Tennis, and Band; achieving National Honor Society membership, besides doing many hours of volunteer community service. Her snowmobile club involvement includes assisting in marking and brushing the trails. Following graduation from Sheboygan Falls High School in June, she plans to attend UW-Lacrosse pursuing a Major in Mathematics and Spanish.
This year the association was fortunate to be able to award two Honorable Mention Scholarships of $500 each.
Those being awarded to Cory Mueller of Seymour and Kelly Larson of Osceola.
Cory is the son of Todd Mueller and a member of the Isaar Trail Riders snowmobile club. He has assisted in snowmobile
safety classes, participated in club events and helped with trail marking and removal. Throughout high school he has
been involved in Powerlifting and Golf, in addition to volunteering for a number of community activities. Cory plans
to attend either UW-LaCrosse or UW-Milwaukee to further his education in Business or Computer Engineering.
Kelly is the daugher of Kirk and Traci Larson and a member of the Osceola Valley Sno-Goers. She has participated in her club’s activities along with working the food booth at the community fair. While in high school she served as editor of the yearbook, was a member of the band, plus achieved National Honor Society membership along with performing hours of volunteer service for her community. Upon graduation Kelly will attend the UW-Madison undertaking law and legal studies.
