Markie Schneider, a senior at Rice Lake High School, is one of this year’s $1,000 scholarship winners. Applicants of the scholarship are judged on their essay of “What Snowmobiling Means to Me” along with their achievement of academic success while maintaining a healthy balance of involvement in school and community as well as with their snowmobile club. Markie has been extremely successful at this goal; earning National Honor Society membership with a noteworthy top of her graduating class GPA, while excelling in music, student government and other school organizational activities. She has participated in various volunteer community efforts as well as being an actively involved member of her snowmobile club, the Rice Lake Sno-Birds of Barron County. Her snowmobiling contributions not only include being an officer of her club, a junior safety instructor and club activities leader, but also served as AWSC’s Miss Snowflake in 2003-2004. Markie is the daughter of Pete & Jacqui Schneider of Rice Lake and plans to further her education this fall at the UW – Superior.

Ashley Linsmeyer, a senior at Medford High School, is one of this year’s $1,000 scholarship winners. Applicants of the scholarship are judged on their essay of “What Snowmobiling Means to Me” and their ability to achieve academically as well as maintain a balance of involvement in school, community and their local snowmobile club. Ashley’s scholastic success has placed her in membership of the National Honor Society while also excelling in school extra-curricula’s and organizational activities. She has participated in various volunteer community efforts, carries a CNA degree enabling her to work at Nursing, Rehab and other Health Care Centers. In addition, she is an actively involved member of her snowmobile club, the Westboro Sno-Dusters. Her list of club activities include trail work along with assisting at club sponsored events and charity rides. Ashley is the daughter of Bryan & Cindy Meyer of rural Medford and plans to further her education this fall at Winona State University pursuing the field of health services.
